A Brief History of Our Church
Morristown Baptist Tabernacle is an Independent Baptist Church, established April 24, 1966.
After graduating Tennessee Temple University under the leadership of Dr. Lee Roberson, Ralph Benfield and his wife, Bryte, felt God’s calling to begin a ministry in Morristown, Tennessee. The first meeting was held on February 6, 1966 with six persons present in an old store building on Henry Street.
The Lord blessed the efforts so much that this location was soon outgrown. Land was purchased and the first building was erected on the church's present meeting location in June, 1968.
Since that time, several additions have been made to the facilities including Sunday School classrooms, new offices, an educational building, and a large kitchen and fellowship hall. The latest addition has been a mission apartment and activity area.
Pastor and Mrs. Benfield have remained faithful to God’s calling, and Brother Benfield continues to serve as pastor of the church.
